Eskis’ Osborne’s hat trick ices Rock

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – David Osborne scored three times Monday evening to help the Iroquois Falls Eskis ice the Timmins Rock 4-2 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Jus Jordan Arena.

In a potential first round East Division playoff match-up that could see the two sides square off, it was Osborne who started the possible postseason preview with the lone tally of the first period at 16:35.

Osborne added another near the seven-minute mark of the second to put the home side up by two.

Timmins got one back at 8:45 of the session thanks to Zachary Kercz, who extended a point streak to eight, with a power play effort.

Dillan Bruce restored the two-goal margin for Iroquois Falls notching the eventual winner for the Eskis just past the 16-minute mark of the frame.

The Rock moved back to within one 2:47 into in the final session on Landen Matechuk’s seventh as he now has points in six straight for Timmins.

The visitors pulled netminder Logan Ferrington late in favour of an extra attacker to try and force overtime, but Osborne sealed it with an empty netter to finish off his three-goal night with his club-best 34th goal of 2015-16.

Tanner Bowditch and Jacob Erwin supplied two assists apiece for Iroquois Falls.

Matthew Camilleri was the winning goaltender making 49 stops for the Eskis while Ferrington suffered the loss handling 34 of the 37 attempts he faced for the Rock.
