POWASSAN, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners rode the shutout goaltending of Morgan Hyndman in blanking the Powassan Voodoos 4-0 Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) exhibition action at the Powassan Sportsplex.

The visitors notched the eventual game-winner, two and a half minutes into the proceedings, on a tally from Tysen Anderson.

A man-down marker off the stick of Matthew Neuman made it 2-0 Kirkland Lake in the second stanza before Anderson scored again at 14:31 of the middle frame to put the guests up by three after two periods of play.

Lucas Dubois helped seal the road victory for the guests by connecting on the power play in the third to round out the scoring.

Hyndman was credited with making 35 stops to collect the win for the Gold Miners and posting the shutout.

The Voodoos’ netminding duo of Declan McNamara and Carson Ruddy combined to face 23 attempts in defeat.

Kirkland Lake continues their exhibition schedule Sunday as they visit the Iroquois Falls Storm in a 7:30 p.m. start at Jus Jordan Arena while Powassan takes on the Elliot Lake Vikings Tuesday in a 7 p.m. encounter at the freshly opened North Bay Community & Recreation Centre.
