Lumberjacks’ Dumas latest NOJHLer to earn college commitment

SUDBURY, Ont. – Yet another player from Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s 2019-20 season has earned himself an opportunity to further his education and play NCAA Division III hockey when play resumes.

Dominic Dumas, a 21-year-old forward who wrapped up his Jr. A career with the Hearst Lumberjacks, will be off to Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minn., where the Cardinals compete out of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Osoyoos, B.C. product was a point-per-game performer for Hearst under head coach and general manager in his lone year with the club.

In 56 outings, Dumas collected 21 tallies and helped set-up 35 others for the club.

His offensive contributions saw him finish second in team scoring and he was tops in power play goals, with 10, and also led the way for his side in man advantage points with 23.

He also had point streaks of five or more on three occasions, including a nine-game run.

Dumas also posted the second-highest road assist streak in the NOJHL in 2019-20 at eight and was knotted for fourth-best in the league during the year with points in nine straight away contests.
