SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Liam Wells (Timmins Rock); goalie Jake Marois (Espanola Paper Kings) and forward Cameron Lemcke (Powassan Voodoos) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending February 4.
LIAM WELLS, (F) TIMMINS ROCK: The 20-year-old Oshawa, Ontario product led the Rock to a pair of victories with three goals.
Wells started the week by scoring an important third period goal in the Rock’s 4-2 comeback win over the Hearst Lumberjacks on Friday.
He followed that up with a pair of goals in a 5-1 Rock victory over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners, which brought his NOJHL career goal total in the NOJHL to 55 in his three seasons in the league.
Through 42 games, Wells has netted 26 goals along with 15 assists for 41 points this season.
JAKE MAROIS, (G) ESPANOLA PAPER KINGS: The 20-year-old Sudbury product made the most of his only start last week by turning away 55 shots in a key 2-0 shutout victory for the veteran netminder over the Soo Thunderbirds.
The win was Marois’ 41st in parts of four seasons where he competed in the NOJHL. Through 85 appearances in the league, last week’s shutout was his first.
This season, Marois has a record of 17-11-0-0 along with a 3.62 goals against average and a .909 save percentage.
CAMERON LEMCKE, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS: The 20-year-old North Bay area product recorded 1 goal and 2 assists during a pair of road victories for the Voodoos last week.
Lemcke started the week by scoring an important insurance marker in the Voodoos 5-2 comeback win over the Greater Sudbury Cubs last Thursday while also adding a third period assist.
The power forward then added an assist on Alex Little’s game winner in the Voodoos 4-1 win over the French River Rapids on Saturday night in Noelville.
Lemcke, who eclipsed the 100-point total in his NOJHL junior career back in January, has netted 16 goals along with 35 assists for 51 points in 43 games with the Voodoos this season.
