NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that a trio of forwards, in Liam Boswell (Hearst Lumberjacks); Jack Paweski (Soo Eagles) and Cameron Shanks (Greater Sudbury Cubs), have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending October 1.

LIAM BOSWELL, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – In a pair of outings as part of a home-and-home sweep against Iroquois Falls, Boswell dished out seven assists to pace all league skaters offensively.

The 18-year-old Oakville, Ont., product began by setting up three Lumberjacks markers in a road triumph Thursday, then followed that up with four more helpers on home ice Friday.

Having etched his name on the game sheet in each of Hearst’s eight match-ups so far this season, Boswell has recorded 14 points in that span to lead his team offensively, while sitting tied for sixth in NOJHL scoring.

JACK PAWESKI, (F) SOO EAGLES – A solid effort at Pullar Stadium over the weekend, saw Paweski pick-up five points as the Eagles posted victories over Blind River and the rival Soo Thunderbirds.

Hailing from Brighton, Mich., the 19-year-old forward had a goal, then set-up the game-winner against the Beavers Friday, before picking up two assists and notching the deciding marker in overtime the next night, in a meeting with the Thunderbirds.

Paweski heads into the NOJHL Showcase leading the Eagles in points with 11 after seven games.

CAMERON SHANKS (F) GREATER SUDBURY CUBS – The veteran NOJHLer chipped in with five points during the time frame, helping the Cubs run their season-opening win streak to eight in succession.

Shanks started off scoring once and providing a couple of assists in a decision over Elliot Lake, then collected two more helpers in a victory vs. French River.

The 19-year-old forward, who is from nearby Lively, Ont., is on a six-game point streak where he has tallied twice and chipped in on 10 others, to move into a tie for fourth in team scoring.
