Power outage postpones NOJHL playoff opener in Sudbury

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced this evening that tonight’s playoff opening game between the Espanola Rivermen and the Sudbury Nickel Barons at McClelland Arena in Copper Cliff has been postponed due to a power outage.

A blown transformer in the Greater Sudbury area caused the blackout, thus forcing the cancellation of the game.

The game will be replayed with the date and time of that contest being made available once finalized.

The NOJHL apologizes for any inconvenience these events may have caused

The next game in the series is currently scheduled to be played Friday at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex at 7:30 p.m.

Two other league quarter-final series also kick off Friday with Kirkland Lake at home to North Bay and Abitbi entertaining Elliot Lake in a pair of 7:30 p.m. starts.
