HEARST, Ont. – David Laroche scored twice while Tyler Masternak made 18 saves for his 10th career shutout as the Timmins Rock blanked the Hearst Lumberjacks 4-0 to put an end to their seven-game winning streak Tuesday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action evening at Claude Larose Arena.
Timmins came at Hearst, outshooting them 12-8 in the opening 20 minutes, and were rewarded with markers from Cameron Kosurko at 7:16 and Laroche’s initial tally of the night moments before the frame came to a close.
The Rock carried the play again in the middle stanza and went up by three, nearly 14 minutes in, on another by Laroche as they took a 3-0 cushion into the third.
Down a man midway through the final session, Timmins helped secure the road triumph with a shorthanded marker courtesy of Josh Dickson to round out the night’s scoring.
Liam Oxner in the Lumberjacks net faced 32 attempts against in defeat.
With the result, the Rock improve to 13-2-1-1 on the season and move four points ahead of the 12-4-0-0 Lumberjacks in the league’s East Division standings.
