Schedule announced for Central Canada Cup Challenge
SUDBURY – Team Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League now know who their initial games at the upcoming Central Canada Cup Challenge, Nov. 14-16 at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto, will be against as the schedule for the three-day event has been announced.
Game action for the NOJHL begins Friday, Nov. 14 at 4 p.m. as they take on Team OJHL Paul Coffey.
The following day they’ll meet Team OJHL Adam Oates at 10 a.m.
The club’s remaining games will be determined on how they fare in their round-robin contests.
A total of nine all-star teams, including one from the NOJHL, two apiece from the Central Canada Hockey League and Quebec Junior Hockey League along with four from the host Ontario Junior Hockey League will take part in the Central Canada Cup Challenge.
Each of the participating clubs will play two round robin contests with the length of games being two 20-minute periods.
After round robin competition the teams will be rated on their overall performance will be reseeded for the playoff round with each side vying for the championship for the CCCC, which will conclude with the final at 6 p.m. on Nov. 16.
The players that will comprise the NOJHL roster is expected to be made by the end of October.
It will be selected by team director of operations Kevin Cain (Soo Thunderbirds) along with the coaching staff of Jordan Smith (Soo Thunderbirds), Ryan Maunu (Soo Thunderbirds) and Don Gagnon (Blind River Beavers).
