WASAGA BEACH, Ont. – The Leamington Flyers (OJHL) received shutout goaltending from Tre Altiman, and a couple of tallies courtesy of Brayden Degelas, Thursday to send them past the Timmins Rock 4-0 in quarter-final action at the Cottage Cup Showcase at Wasaga Stars Arena.
Leamington got the eventual game-winner in the two-period contest when Degelas scooped up a loose puck in front of Timmins goaltender Dryden Riley and roofed it over the glove into the right corner at 12:19.
The Flyers added another before the intermission as Tommy Spencer was sent in on Riley from in close and went left-to-right before sliding his chance into the net.
In the final frame, Leamington tacked on another as Jobey Pearson spun along the end boards and put a play in front that was quickly finished off by Degelas.
Mason Landry then capped off the scoring for the Flyers as he weaved along the goal line, then drove through the crease and stuffed in his chance with 3:38 to play.
Timmins now returns home to gear up for their Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League regular season opener, September 13, at Powassan.
