Timmins takes inter-league meeting with Pelham of GOJHL

TIMMINS, Ont. – A Derek Seguin goal 49 seconds into the third period proved to be the game-winner as the Timmins Rock of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League went on to slip past the Pelham Panthers (GOJHL) 3-2 Wednesday night in front of 660 fans at McIntyre Arena.

Timmins was also quick out of the gate in this one as Riley Brousseau opening the night’s scoring a minute and a half into the contest.

The Rock then went up 2-0 later in the first frame as Zach Smith finished off an Aidan Milne feed, with the latter picking up his second assist of the session.

Pelham did get one back before the stanza was complete thanks to a Noah Caperchione tally that put the visitors on the board.

After a scoreless second period, Seguin supplied some insurance for the hosts early in the third to put his side back up by a pair.

The Panthers pulled closer once more with 7:22 remaining in regulation off a Mike Butterfield man advantage marker, but Timmins starter Tyler Masternak shut the door the rest of the way finishing with 16 saves in earning the victory.

Pelham goalkeeper Nick McGowan saw 35 shots fired his way in defeat.
