KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – Timmins Rock forward Josh Dickson dished out a career-high three assists while goaltender Tyler Masternak stopped all 21 shots he faced to register his ninth Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout in leading their side to a 5-0 decision over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Sunday evening at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
Timmins came out quickly and gained the upper hand in the contest 88 seconds in as Karter Renouf gave the guests an early cushion in what proved to be the game-winning goal.
The Rock tacked on another just past the nine-minute mark of the first on a Tyler Gilberds effort.
It was more from the visitors in the second stanza as they collected the only tally in the frame off the stick of captain Tyler Seguin as he moved two tallies shy of the 50-plateau in his NOJHL career as well as four points away from the century mark.
The guests kept coming in the third and got some insurance from Riley Brousseau at 8:43 before Tyler Schwindt’s first NOJHL marker, on a late power play, concluded the scoring.
Stewart Parnell chipped in with two helpers for Timmins.
Kohl Reddy in the Kirkland Lake net faced 27 attempts in a losing cause.
