Voodoos; Crunch named in CJHL weekly rankings
SUDBURY – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced its weekly Top 20 rankings Monday and a pair of Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League clubs earned accolades.
Winners of 11 consecutive games, the Powassan Voodoos were slotted eighth in the 132-team CJHL while the Cochrane Crunchwere tabbed 17th nationally.
Preparing for a head-to-head match-up tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Powassan, the Voodoos and Crunch sit one-two respectively in the overall NOJHL standings.
Powassan has a NOJHL-best 37 points on an 18-3-1-0 record while Cochrane is sitting with 33 points having gone 14-3-4-1 so far this season.
The Voodoos sport a .841 winning percentage while the Crunch have a .750 win mark to their credit.
College Francais de Longueuil remains the No. 1 team in the CJHL for another week while the Georgetown Raiders (OJHL) have moved up to No. 2.
Rounding out the top five are the Steinbach Pistons (MJHL), Wenatchee Wild (BCHL) and Terrebone Cobras (QJHL) in third through fifth respectively.
