BLIND RIVER, Ont. – A five-goal third period helped the Blind River Beavers come back and pull away with a 6-3 triumph over the Rayside-Balfour Canadians Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at the Blind River Community Centre.
Blind River opened the scoring six and a half minutes into the contest on a power play point blast from Ryan Mulligan as he collected his 12th tally of the campaign.
Rayside-Balfour countered a couple shifts later to tie things up compliments of Zachary Hauseman then went in front before the first period was done thanks to Noah Serre’s eighth.
After a scoreless second stanza as well as into the final half of the third, the Beavers exploded for five goals in under a six-minute span late to pull out the victory.
Caleb Serre had the first two for Blind River, coming just 12 seconds apart, to put the home side into the lead.
Nash Hatcher then picked up the eventual game-winner at 13:43, via the power play.
The Canadians got one back, while shorthanded, from Evan Krassey with under three minutes left, but Blind River connected for their third extra man effort of the night moments later off the stick of Ryan Peck.
Peck then capped off the offensive onslaught with an empty netter to help secure the win.
Caleb Serre had two assists to go with his goals for a four-point evening while teammates Brendan Young and Sam Harris had two helpers apiece in the decision.
Garret Boyonoski finished with 37 saves to record the win for the Beavers while David Bowen saw 53 shots fired his way, including 19 in the third, in defeat.
