Blind River humbles Espanola

ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Blind River Beavers saw eight different skaters produce multi-point days as they went on to humble the Espanola Express 9-0 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Sunday afternoon at the Regional Recreation Complex.

Blind River got going offensively four and a half minutes into the match-up as Brendan Young collected his 25th goal of the season with assists going to Caleb Serre and Justin Mauro.

Serre picked up his second assist of the contest in the middle session as helped set-up Mauro for his ninth marker.

The Beavers kept it going offensively and tacked on two more before the frame was frame with Dante Cavaliere and Tyler Nott both finding the back of the net.

Third period play saw Serre help secure the decision as he collected his 25th tally and 70th NOJHL goal at 1:09.

They then finished off the one-sided result with late tallies from Lucas Adams, Ryan Nielsen, with his first, Young and Nadeau.

Young led the way offensively with four points while Mauro and Serre supplied three each.

Garret Boyonoski finished with 23 saves to record his first shutout of the season while Joel Rainville faced 45 shots in a season-ending defeat for the Express.

Espanola did however finish with a 17-point improvement over the 2017-18 campaign.
