Cochrane hands Blind River 1st loss

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Cochrane Crunch picked up three assists from defenceman Noah Bennett to help them hand the Blind River Beavers their first loss of the season as they skated to a 4-1 victory Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League neutral site encounter at Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.

Cochrane connected early in the contest as T.J. Delaney collected his second goal of the campaign at 3:54 to put them in front.

Using a man advantage to their benefit on the first power play of the night, the Crunch upped their lead five minutes later when Nicolas Flanders finished off the work of teammates Bennett and Austin Stauffer.

Second period play saw Blind River get on the board on Owen Robinson’s power play marker at 15:11 only to see Cochrane counter just over a minute later thanks to Austin Whelan.

Alex Brisson then finished things off for the Crunch with the lone marker of the third with 5:22 to go.

Taylor Unruh turned in a solid 34-stop night for Cochrane to record the win.

Garret Boyonoski was busy in the Beavers’ net seeing 43 attempts fired his way in defeat.
