FRENCH RIVER – Continuing to be much-improved of late, the French River Rapids picked up their latest conquest by defeating the Timmins Rock 4-2 Saturday night in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Noelville Arena.

A late first period man advantage helped Timmins open the night’s scoring as Josh Dickson notched his eighth of the campaign at 17:45.

Moving on to the middle session, the Rapids were quick to equalize as Chad Lafortune tied 88 seconds in.

The Rock regained the lead though at 16:20 off the stick of Matt Capisciolto to carry a one-goal lead into the third period.

In that final frame though, French River struck three times to pull out the home ice victory.

Connor Loft tied it at 6:41, during a Rapids power play, before Philippe Daoust notched the eventual game-winner with just under seven minutes to play in regulation.

Hunter Brazier then capped off the comeback with a late goal to round out the night’s scoring.

The contest also saw Daoust and Brazier run consecutive game point streaks to six while Loft’s marker helped him etch his name on the score sheet in five straight outings.

Marshall Frappier was solid in net for French River as he finished with 45 saves to record the win helping his side improve to 3-1-2 in their past six games.

Nicholas Dicks made 30 stops in defeat for Timmins.
