IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Talented Timmins Rock forward Harry Clark scored five times Saturday to help propel his side past the Iroquois Falls Storm 7-5 in a goal-filled Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at Jus Jordan Arena.
The hometown Storm got an early marker, while shorthanded, when Lucas Peever broke out of his own zone and went hard to the net where he made a slight move to his left and slid the puck between the legs of Rock netminder Patrick Boivin, less than two minutes into the match-up.
Adding another at 6:57, Iroquois Falls defenceman Matthew Rabideau fired a shot to the left from the left point that was neatly deflected in out of mid-air by Max Jugnauth.
Timmins got one back midway through the first period thanks to Clark in the right circle as he spun and lifted in a backhand that got through Storm starter Connor Hatfield.
It was more from Clark later in the frame as he darted down the ice and corralled a bouncing puck before snapping it in to knot the affair at 2-2.
Not done there, the Rock added another when Liam Wells tipped in a Felix Cadieux-Fredette shot from up top.
Clark then continued his impressive play by finishing off a first-period hat trick by taking a Mason Svarich pass then putting it past Hatfield.
Timmins thought they had a fifth in the session, but it had gone in after the buzzer had sounded to end the session.
In the middle frame, the clubs traded tallies with Patrice Lafontaine bringing the home side close by lifting one in from in close while Boivin was being harassed in the crease during a man advantage.
However, the Clark continued to shine as he picked up his fourth of the evening as he went hard to the net and hammered in a perfect cross-ice pass from Svarich.
Heading to the third, Timmins went up by three as Thomas Beard chipped a play ahead off the side boards, which allowed Kaeden McArthur to dash in on the right wing where he threw it upstairs over the blocker of Hatfield.
Up a skater with under six minutes to play, Owen Cassidy put an attempt from up top that got through a partially screened Boivin.
Iroquois Falls then added another with Peever taking a play to the net right off a face off and tucking in his second of the night.
The Rock got one more in the final moments as Clark capped off his impressive evening with an empty netter to complete the high-scoring affair.
With the victory, Timmins moves to 15-8-2-0 on the year while the Storm fell to 7-20-0-1.
