Former NOJHLers produced in SPHL in 2023-24

NOJHL alumnus Jean-Guy Trudel (Rouyn-Naranda Capitales) coached the Peoria Rivermen to the SPHL President’s Cup championship this season.

TORONTO – The ever-increasing list of Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) alumni who competed at higher levels continues to grow.

Looking at the numbers, you’ll find 95 CJHL alums played in the Southern Professional Hockey League during the 2023-24 season.

Each of the nine leagues that comprise the CJHL had at least five of their former players among the 10 SPHL member-club rosters.

Included in this group is goaltender Nick Latinovich (Georgetown Raiders/Orangeville Flyers – OJHL), who backstopped the Peoria Rivermen to the SPHL’s President’s Cup championship.

Latinovich led the league in wins and goals-against average in both regular season action and the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Carson Rose (Weyburn Red Wings/SJHL) topped all SPHL skaters in offensive production, piling up 65 points in 49 outings for the Rivermen.

Peoria head coach Jean-Guy Trudel (Rouyn-Noranda Capitales/NOJHL) was one of six bench bosses in the league that are also alumni of the CJHL, in guiding his squad to the title.

Also, former CJHL Top Goaltender Award recipient Kristian Stead (Nipawin Hawks/SJHL) was a member of the SPHL’s Knoxville Ice Bears.
