Hat tricks by Osborne and Bruce leads Eskis past Crunch

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – A David Osborne hat trick was part of a five-goal third period outburst as the Iroquois Falls Eskis stormed back to defeat the Cochrane Crunch 6-4 Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League exhibition action at Jus Jordan Arena.

Cochrane’s Konnar Dechaine picked up the lone marker of the first frame to give the visitors the lead.

Dillan Bruce evened things up for the Eskis with his first of three on the night with five and a half minutes to go in the second stanza only to see Braeden Cross put the Crunch back on top in the final minute of the middle session.

The power play allowed Iroquois Falls to tie it early in the third thanks to Osborne.

Sean Emerson gave Cochrane their third lead of the night with 12:17 to go, but efforts from Osborne and Bruce saw the Eskis draw level and then go in front.

The two sides then traded man advantage efforts from Rory Milne of the Crunch and Bruce for the home side as he notched the eventual game-winner with 4:14 left with a three-goal night of his own.

Osborne then finished off his big evening with 60 seconds remaining to round out the scoring.

Artem Bartovskiy made 43 saves to pick-up the win for the Eskis.

Hunter Smith suffered the setback in goal for Crunch in third period relief.
