Liarakos runs point streak to 15 as Beavers bounce Eskis
BLIND RIVER, Ont. – Yianni Liarkos scored three times and assisted on two others to run a consecutive game point streak to 15 in the process to lead the Blind River Beavers to an 8-4 victory over the Iroquois Falls Eskis Saturday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Recreation Centre.
After Phil Caron put the Eskis in front 4:28 into the contest, Brock Brown made his Blind River debut a memorable one as he notched his first for his new club less than three minutes later.
However, Caron put the visitors back in front at 9:10 only to see the Beavers bounce back with tallies from Steven Khull and Liarakos to make it 3-2 for the home side after one.
Liarakos tacked on two more in the middle session to hit his natural hat trick while Max Khull and Mark Khull, on the power play, both scored to extend the Blind River cushion to 7-2.
Josh Dejulio’s sixth of the season brought Iroquois Falls closer in the final minute of the frame with Dillan Bruce earning one of the assists on the play to extend a point streak to 16 straight games.
Dejulio added another for the Eskis in the third while the Beavers’ Tristan Bernard rounded out the scoring at 11:12.
Cole Peck dished out a four helpers to aid the Blind River cause.
Shots on goal in the contest were 45-28 in favour of the Beavers with Aidan Doak picking up the win.
Trevor Hawkes started for Iroquois Falls and suffered the loss allowing five against on 15 attempts while Artem Bortovskiy stopped 27 of 31 in 34 and a half minutes of relief.
