HEARST, ON – The Hearst Lumberjacks battled back from an early two-goal deficit to edge the Iroquois Falls Storm 5-4 at the Claude Larose Community Centre on Friday night.
Tyler Patterson and Mathieu Comeau had two goals each for the Lumberjacks in the home win.
Landon Trethewey and Patrice Lafontaine each had 1 goal and 1 assist for the Storm.
The Storm got on the board first, as Kirsjanis Fugalis got his third tally of the season on the power play at 6:14 of the opening period.
Landon Tretheway gave the visiting Storm a two-goal lead at 9:03 as he beat Lumberjacks netminder Tristan Boileau.
Late in the period, the Lumberjacks’ Tyler Patterson netted his 34th at 15:30 to make it 2-1 beating Storm goalie Connor Hatfield.
The Lumberjacks got the equalizer under 3 minutes later when Mathieu Comeau put home his 15th at 18:43 to make it 2-2 after one period as the home side erased the two-goal deficit.
It stayed that way until midway through the second when Comeau notched his second of the game and 16th of the season to make it 3-2 Lumberjacks.
However, just over two minutes later Michael Leech notched his 9th at 12:32 to even things at 3-3.
At 14:56, it was Owen Hey who registered his 8th which made it 4-3 for the home squad. Then exactly two minutes after that Patterson got his second of the game to make it 5-3 Lumberjacks after 40 minutes.
It stayed that way until late in the third when Patrice Lafontaine recorded his 14th at 18:05.
The win improves the Lumberjacks to 28-14-3-2 while the Storm fall to 15-34-0-2.
