NOELVILLE, ON – The Hearst Lumberjacks broke open a close game with three unanswered third period goals as they defeated the French River Rapids 6-2 at the Noelville arena Saturday.
The visiting Lumberjacks got going early as Liam Boswell got the visitors on the board at 1:36.
The Rapids evened the score as the Rapids Pijus Zemaitis netted his third from Dominic Bzdyl at 3:48 to even it at 1-1.
Boswell restored the Lumberjacks lead just over a minute later to make it 2-1.
Late in the second Damien Bourdon-Lemoyne netted his 8th at 15:20 to make it 3-1 Lumberjacks.
The Rapids pulled within one as Cameron Jansa drove the net and beat Lumberjacks netminder Tristan Boileau to make it 3-2 after 40 minutes.
Mid-third Lemoyne put home a rebound off an odd man Lumberjacks rush to make it 4-2 at 9:38 of the third.
Jack Robinson iced the win with an empty netter at 18:49 and then Tyler Patterson scored a breakaway goal at 19:19 to round out the scoring.
The loss drops the Rapids to 8-35-1-1 while the Lumberjacks improve to 25-13-3-2
