SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League has announced that forwards Gregory Trudeau-Paquet, formerly of the French River Rapids and now with the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners along with Nick Techel of the Soo Eagles and Harrison Israels of the Powassan Voodoos have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Nov. 19.
GREGORY TRUDEAU-PAQUET, (F) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS/KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD MINERS – Last week was certainly a busy one for Trudeau-Paquet.
After beginning by skating with Team NOJHL at the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge, the 18-year-old Sudbury product returned to pick-up a point with French River before seeing his playing rights dealt to Kirkland Lake the following day.
Then embarking on a three-game road trip with his new club, he proceeded to register a point in all eight goals the Gold Miners scored over the weekend.
Combined with his final helper with the Rapids, Trudeau-Paquet supplied a pair of tallies while setting up seven others for the week.
He currently leads the league in scoring having produced 42 points overall on 21 goals and as many assists and is riding a five-game point streak.
NICK TECHEL, (F) SOO EAGLES – The NOJHL’s second-leading point getter is coming off a solid performance with Team NOJHL at the Eastern Canada All-Star Challenge before he returned to his Soo Eagles side and helped them secure four points in the league standings.
Approaching his 19th birthday, the native of Wausau, Wis., averaged a point-per-game with Team NOJHL at the ECCASC then etched his name on the scoresheet in a trio of league contests after his return.
Techel scored once and assisted on another in a setback at Rayside-Balfour before scoring in a triumph over Blind River and notching two more goal and picking up a helper in a victory over Kirkland Lake.
With 11 multi-point contests to his credit so far this season, the Eagles standout has become the second skater in the league to reach 40 points having tallied 16 times while doling out 24 assists.
HARRISON ISRAELS, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – The 18-year-old from Mississauga, Ont., registered goals in all three wins the league-leading Voodoos recorded last week helping Powassan extend their cushion in the race for first overall in the NOJHL standings.
Israels began with a marker and a helper in a home triumph over French River last Wednesday before notching the game-winner vs. Timmins Friday.
Saturday saw him tack on two more tallies in a decision at French River.
Israels presently sits second among NOJHL rookies in offensive production with 33 points and has scored in three straight as well as in eight of his past nine outings.
He is also tied for 11th among all league skaters in scoring.
