NOJHL names its initial Eastlink Playoff 3 Stars of the week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forward Owen Robinson, goaltender Garret Boyonoski and defenceman Matthew Murray of the Blind River Beavers have been selected as its initials Eastlink TV Playoffs 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending March 11.

OWEN ROBINSON, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – Rookie forward Robinson has taken the early NOJHL postseason scoring lead after picking up five points in total in Blind River’s first round series win over Elliot Lake.

He began by tallying twice, including notching the game-winner, and adding an assist as the Beavers took Game 1 on home ice.

Having turned 18 last week, the Orangeville, Ont., native followed that up with two helpers to aid in his series-deciding decision over the Wildcats Sunday.

GARRET BOYONOSKI, (G) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – Boyonoski made the most of his first NOJHL playoff start by posting a 29-save shutout as Blind River blanked Elliot Lake 3-0 in the series opener.

The 18-year-old netminder, who hails from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., was then peppered with 47 shots against Sunday as the Beavers prevailed with a 5-4 road win at Centennial Arena.

MATTHEW MURRAY, (D) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – The 20-year-old from Thessalon, Ont., produced goals in each of his club’s victories over Elliot Lake.

He began with a big blast in the Game 1 triumph and followed that up with another impressive tally, along with an assist, in the Beavers punched their ticket to the West Division semifinals vs. Rayside-Balfour.
