SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – Kelsey Ouellet recorded a natural hat trick to pace the Soo Thunderbirds to a 5-1 win over the visiting Elliot Lake Vikings at the John Rhodes Community Centre on Wednesday night.
The visiting Vikings opened the scoring as Gabriel Manseau registered his third of the season beating Thunderbirds starter Maverick Fletcher just over three minutes into the contest to make it 1-0 Vikings after 20 minutes.
The Thunderbirds got on the board early in the second as Callum McCauley put home his 10th of the season to even things at 1-1.
Kelsey Ouellet gave the TBirds their first lead of the game as he scored his 6th of the campaign just past the midway point of the period making it 2-1 TBirds.
Ouellet added a TBirds insurance marker just over six minutes into the third which made it 3–1 TBirds.
Ouellet completed his natural hat trick at 12:48 which made it 4-1 for the Thunderbirds.
For Ouellet, he now has 5 goals and 2 assists during a four-game point scoring streak.
Less than a minute later Kaden Dundas scored a power play marker to put the game out of reach and make it 5-1.
With the win the Thunderbirds improve to 24-12-2-1 on the season, while the Vikings fall to 5-27-1-4 on the season.
