NOELVILLE, ON – The Espanola Paper Kings broke out of a two-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the French River Rapids at the Noelville Arena on Saturday night.
The Paper Kings opened the scoring on the power play as Owen Fergusson scored his 28th of the season at 6:51 of the first.
It stayed that way until 9:46 of the second frame when Paper Kings forward Kyle den Ouden put home his 11th of the season giving the visitors a 2-0 lead.
The Rapids finally got on the board late in the second as former North Bay Trapper Nolan Masson scored his 10th of the season at 17:47 to make it 2-1 to get the home crowd going in Noelville.
However, the potent Paper Kings offence silenced the crowd, as Spencer Horgan scored his 21st of the campaign with 22 second left in the period to restore the two-goal lead and take a 3-1 lead into the locker room after 40.
Liam Rampersad secured the win with an empty net goal at 17:57.
The win moves the Espanola Paper Kings record to 26-15 on the season while the Rapids drop their 12th straight and fall to 8-31-1.
