GALLERY: Ring racks up 5 in Rock romp over Crunch

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock saw forward Nolan Ring put on a big show, by scoring five times, in a 6-0 triumph over the Cochrane Crunch Friday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League neutral site affair in front of an impressive crowd of over 1,000 fans at Jus Jordan Arena.

Timmins provided the evening’s initial tally nearly 16 minutes into the match-up when Ring took a Brady Harroun pass from in close, then made a crafty move, before tucking the puck past Cochrane netminder Jake Dubinsky.

Still 1-0 Rock into the second period, they extended their lead after catching the Crunch on an ill-advised line change and saw Justin Charette make a swift rush then dish one off to Ring, who had time to cut left and lift in his second of the evening during a man advantage.

They then saw Lucas Lowe do the work on their third of the evening as he powered down the right wing and sent across a pass that left Timmins’ affiliate player Tyson Scott plenty of room to steer in his first NOJHL goal.

Putting the game away in the third, Ring racked up another after a Cochrane giveaway that allowed Nicolas Pigeon to set him up to the right of the net where he finished off his hat trick.

Not done there, Ring collected his fourth of the night moments later off a dash up ice and moving around a few Crunch skaters before firing one by Dubinsky at 5:13.

His fifth and final one of the night came as he drove hard to the target from the right side and tucked one through Dubinsky’s legs to round out the scoring.

Rock netminder Jacob Brown had a relatively easy evening to register his NOJHL-leading seventh shutout of the season.

The victory helped Timmins move to 43-7-3-2 while in defeat, Cochrane fell to 7-46-1-1.
