Team NOJHL roster announced for Eastern Canada Jr. A All-Star Challenge

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday its roster that will compete in the upcoming Eastern Canada All-Star Jr. A Challenge, which goes Nov. 14-16 in Cornwall, Ont.

The 20-man roster and three alternates for Team NOJHL was selected by its operations staff as well as the coaches comprised of head coach Scott Wray (Powassan Voodoos) along with assistants Moe Mantha (French River Rapids) and Kyle Brick (Blind River Beavers).

“A hearty congratulations to each of those named to Team NOJHL,” offered NOJHL Commissioner Robert Mazzuca.

“As was the case in past years, our management team and coaching staff had a very challenging time in formulating our roster for the Eastern Canada All-Star Challenge, largely in part to the impressive array of talent our league continues to produce,” added Mazzuca.

The 10-team event will features squads from all five of the Eastern-based members of the Canadian Junior Hockey League.

Joining Team NOJHL will be one side from each of the four conferences that comprise the Ontario Junior Hockey League, two from the host Central Canada Hockey League and the Maritime Hockey League along with one entry from the Quebec Junior Hockey League.

Comprising two divisions of five, each competing side will play four round robin contests consisting of two 20-minute periods.

Should a game be tied after regulation, a shootout will be held to determine a winner with three points being awarded for regulation wins, two if won in a shootout and one for a shootout setback.

Each squad is only allowed a maximum of five 1996-born players on their roster.

The top four teams in each division will advance to quarter-final action on Nov. 16, which will be followed by semifinal play and the championship game later that same day.
