Timmins too much for Iroquois Falls
IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock picked up the night’s first three tallies and never looked back as they went on to defeat the Iroquois Falls Eskis 8-1 in a one-side Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League affair Friday at Jus Jordan Arena.
Timmins started rolling early grabbing a 3-0 lead after one period of play on markers by Spencer Segui, Tyler Romain and Cory Sprague, who supplied his on a late power play in the first.
The Rock added another with the lone tally of the middle session which came off the stick Alexandre Brisson at 12:55 of the frame.
Up a man, Timmins made it 5-0 just past the three-minute mark of the third as Romain added his second of the night.
Cole Gilligian kept the onslaught going at 4:11 before the Eskis’ Shadow Reuben put an end to Rock netminder Matthew Nixon’s shutout bid with12:30 to go.
A third Rock extra man effort saw James Watier pickup his first NOJHL goal before Brisson notched one more in the late going to round out the scoring.
Bain Cunnigham, Parnell Stewart, Wayne Mathieu, Patrick Gazich and Watier all dished out two assists each for Timmins in the triumph.
Nixon finished with 32 stops in earning the win while Trevor Hawkes was pelted with 54 shots in defeat for Iroquois Falls.
