Voodoos add U.S. forward

POWASSAN — The Powassan Voodoos of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League traveled south of the border to net their latest forward.

The Voodoos have signed 19-year-old forward Daniel Golba, the club announced on Thursday.

The Depew, N.Y., native recorded eight goals along with 26 assists in 40 games last year with the Lockport Express of the NA3EHL.

Chris Dawson, Voodoos GM and VP of Hockey Operations, says Golba impressed at the Voodoos April Camp at Memorial Gardens.

“Daniel is a hard working forward with some offensive upside. He stood out at our April camp.  He sees the ice well, has offensive upside and he can play a physical game for a 170 pound player, so we are excited to have him on board,” said Dawson who met up with the Golba family in Niagara Falls shortly after the commitment.

For Golba, committing to the Voodoos is a perfect fit.

“I liked everything about it from the organization straight down to the communities of Powassan and North Bay,” said Golba.

“I liked the way the organization handled itself from the presentation, and to the whole staff. It was a no brainer to commit to the Voodoos. It was my first tryout and my last one.”

Golba will attend the Voodoos July Prospects Camp which will take place July 17-19 at Pete Palangio Arena in North Bay.

Interested prospects (1999 to 1995) are asked to contact GM Chris Dawson at GM@voodooshockey.com
