ESPANOLA, Ont. – The Espanola Express saw Cameron Walker score once and chip in with two assists to help lead his side to a 6-1 victory over visiting Elliot Lake Wildcats in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Monday at the Regional Recreation Complex.

The Express needed just a few shifts of play to get on track as Alex Simard picked up his sixth of the season at 3:08 to put the hosts on the board.

Espanola added another 10 minutes later that saw Max Curtis collect his first NOJHL goal as he finished off a Brennen Martel feed.

Moving to the second stanza, the home side added to their lead with the lone marker of the session with Zach Trempner converting on the power play at 14:28.

In the third, the Express tacked on two more, less than a minute apart from affiliate Carson Shawana, who notched his first goal in the NOJHL, followed moments later by an A.J. Favot effort to go up by five.

Elliot Lake would eventually dash Joel Rainville’s shutout bid midway through the frame on a Michael Campbell goal.

Walker then capped off the decision for Espanola to finish off the home ice victory.

Also having a strong showing offensively for the hosts was Josh Boucher, who was credited with three assists in the triumph

Rainville finished with 30 stops to record the win while Jonathan Lemaire saw 52 shots fired his way in defeat.
