5 for Cordeiro as Cochrane thumps Iroquois Falls

IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Dustin Cordeiro scored five times while Hunter Atchison had a goal and four assists as the Cochrane Crunch thumped the Iroquois Falls Eskis 11-2 Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Jus Jordan Arena.

Cochrane blew the game open early striking six times in the opening period on tallies by Jeran Knorr, John Stevenson, Atchison and a natural hat trick from Cordeiro.

Two more markers in the middle session put the Crunch up by eight through 40 minutes as Cordeiro buried his fourth in succession and Jeremy McNeil added to the visitors convincing lead.

After Lucas Robinson made it 9-0 Cochrane with his first NOJHL goal in the first minute of the third, the Eskis’ Jacob Erwin struck twice six minutes apart to provide Iroquois Falls some offensive production.

Cochrane finished off their big night in the final minute with Cordeiro and Kaden Hintz both notching markers.

Brett Young made 41 saves to pick up the win for the Crunch.

Dan Davies and Josh Horner combined to face 57 shots in defeat for the Eskis.
