ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. – Malik Ali tallied twice and added an assist to help lead the Soo Eagles to their sixth straight victory, a 6-3 decision over the Elliot Lake Wildcats, in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Sunday night at Centennial Arena.

It was the Wildcats who struck first in the contest as Jaydyn Parnell tallied for a second straight game as his third of the campaign put the home side up 1-0 at 3:42.

Sault Ste. Marie came out quickly in the middle frame to knot the affair at 1-1 thanks to Dominic Skrelja’s 12th at 1:50.

Ali then gave the Eagles the lead at 16:17 before Jake Rhoades drew Elliot Lake level before the session was about to expire.

In the third though, the Soo broke it open as Ali, Caleb Wood and Joel Brandinger all connected before the period was 10 minutes in to give the guests a 5-2 edge.

George Orfanos, on the power play, added to the Soo outburst before the Wildcats’ Owen Kruse rounded out the scoring in the latter stages of the game.

Shots on goal favoured the Eagles by a 70-36 count with Ryan Gilmore earning the win and Parker Simpson the loss.
