Kirkland Lake – Espanola semifinal series schedule announced
SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Sunday the game schedule for the upcoming semifinal series between the No. 2 Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and the No. 3 Espanola Rivermen.
The two teams were confirmed to be second round opponents after the top-seeded Soo Thunderbirds won their quarter-final series in five games over the Blind River Beavers Sunday evening thus guaranteeing the Thunderbirds would meet the winner of the Elliot Lake – Abitibi series while the Gold Miners and Rivermen will tangle in the other semifinal.
Game 1 of the Kirkland Lake – Espanola best-of-seven affair is set for Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
The series will then shift to the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex for game 2 on Sunday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m.
The Gold Miners return home to host game 3 on April 1 before the Rivermen head back to Espanola for game 4 on April 3 in a pair of 7:30 p.m. starts.
If required, game 5 is slated for April 5 at “The Joe” with game 6, if necessary, slated for April 7 at the Regional Recreation Complex with the Rivermen serving as the home side in yet another 7:30 p.m. start.
Should the series go down to the wire, game 7 is scheduled for April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Kirkland Lake.
The game schedule for the Thunderbirds and their semifinal opponent will be announced once it is finalized.
