ST.-CLARLES, Ont. – A Cameron Clark goal 13:45 into the second period was the game-winner as the Hearst Lumberjacks went on to double up the French River Rapids 4-2 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League neutral site affair Saturday at St.-Charles Arena.
French River kicked off the proceedings with the night’s initial goal as Philippe Daoust notched his 18th of the season at 3:11.
Hearst came back though a couple of shifts later to knot the affair with Daniel Fisher supplying the equalizer.
It was more Lumberjacks before the first was complete with Max Johnson connecting at 18:25.
Coming off a two-goal night Friday, Clark made it 3-1 Hearst at 13:45 of the second stanza with the eventual difference maker.
Battling back, the Rapids got that back late in the session as Ryan Smith converted during a man advantage at 16:49.
Alec Johnson added some insurance for Hearst with 5:45 remaining in regulation as he scored on a power play to round of the scoring.
Shots on goal favoured Hearst 56-41 with Tomi Gagnon picking up the win while Niko Manetas suffered the setback.
