GALLERY: Timmins tops Kirkland Lake 4-1

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – The Timmins Rock tallied twice in both the first and third periods to aid in an eventual 4-1 victory over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League East Division meeting Friday in front of a season-high 638 spectators at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

Action in the first period saw Timmins tally twice to gain the early edge on markers from Owen Shier at even strength and Keegan McMullen on the power play.

Kirkland Lake cut into the deficit with the lone goal of the second stanza that was supplied by Vinny DeSanctis with an assist from Noah Cauchi at 2:09.

The Rock regained their two-tally cushion early in the third as they capitalized on a man advantage opportunity that carried over into the session on Eric Moreau’s first NOJHL goal, which came at the 58-second mark.

Timmins then secured the road triumph with 2:16 left in regulation on a Luka Bolduc effort into an empty net.

Rock captain Derek Seguin chipped in with two assists in the win while goaltender Tyler Masternak finished with 18 stops to record the victory.

Gold Miners goaltender Gregory Brassard faced 19 attempts in defeat.
