TIMMINS, Ont. – Vance Meyer handled all 24 shots he faced, for his second consecutive Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout, as he blanked the Hearst Lumberjacks 3-0 Saturday in front of nearly 900 patrons at McIntyre Arena.
Tyler Schwindt got Timmins going three minutes into the meeting as his third marker of the season gave the hosts the early cushion and proved to be the game-winner.
NOJHL point No. 100 for Rock captain Derek Seguin came next as his 51st overall league tally made it 2-0 during a man advantage opportunity.
An early power play in the middle session saw Timmins and Seguin tack on another with Josh Anderson picking up his second assist of the night to put the home side up by three.
Meyer did the rest, keeping the Lumberjacks off the score sheet as the 17-year-old from Guelph, Ont., has now not allowed a goals in 147 minutes and 26 seconds of game action.
Rahul Bola started for Hearst and suffered the loss allowing three against on 12 attempts while backup Liam Oxner handled all 17 shots, he faced in 38 minutes of relief.
