KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – The Timmins Rock picked up two points apiece from Keegan McMullen, Derek Seguin and Matt Capisciolto to help propel them to a 5-3 road decision over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest Saturday at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
Following a scoreless opening frame, the visitors were quick to strike in the middle stanza as McMullen of the Rock banged in a rebound 33 seconds into the session as he collected his 15th marker of the campaign.
Coming back six minutes later Owen Shier made it 2-0 Timmins as his sixth of the season put his side up by a pair.
The Rock kept rolling and tacked on another one in the final minute of the second on Josh Anderson’s 11th at 19:33.
Returning to the Gold Miners lineup, Gregory Trudeau-Paquet put the home side on the board at 5:45 of the third as he picked up his 27th tally of 2018-19.
Answering back, Linden Spencer made it 4-1 for the guests at 8:02 only to see Patrick Murphy answer back for Kirkland Lake 54 seconds later.
Mahingan Decontie helped put the game away for Timmins in the latter stages on the contest with his sixth goal before Sam Ellwood rounded out the scoring for the Gold Miners in the final moments of the match-up.
With two assists on the night, Rock captain Seguin has now registered 20 multi-point games this season.
Tyler Masternak finished with 22 stops to record the win for Timmins.
Dawson Rodin started in goal for Kirkland Lake and allowed two against on 13 attempts while Gregory Brassard suffered the loss in relief while giving up three on 17 shots.
