Timmins too much for Rayside-Balfour

CHELMSFORD, Ont. – The Timmins Rock tallied twice in each period to help them prevail over the Rayside-Balfour Canadians by a 6-2 count Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at Chelmsford Arena.

Timmins got the early jump in the contest grabbing a 2-0 lead on goals from Dean Kiriacou and Jacob Shankar before the Canadians countered with two of their own compliments of Cayse Ton and Kaleb Peldjak to level the proceedings at 2-2 after one period of play.

Action in the middle stanza saw the Rock pick up the eventual game-winner off the stick of Bain Cunningham at 2:04 before Stewart Parnell notched his eighth of the season at 11:50.

The visitors extended their lead early in the third as Cole Gilligan collected his 20th of the campaign at 1:49 while Wayne Mathieu rounded out the night’s scoring with a minute and a half to go.

Gilligan and Brendan Campbell chipped in with two assists in the triumph.

Timmins outshot Rayside-Balfour 42-40 in the game with Al Rogers picking up the win and Cameron Lamour the loss.
