IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Kingston Voyageurs will have an opportunity to defend their Polar Bear Classic title they won last year after dropping the Espanola Express 8-1 in semifinal play Sunday afternoon at Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.
Kingston will now meet the host Cochrane Crunch at 7 p.m. Sunday evening at Tim Horton Event Centre in a rematch of last year’s event, won by the Voyageurs.
In the decision over Espanola, Danny Reidel led the Vees’ offensive onslaught by notching a hat trick, including the game-winner, for his side that held intermission leads of 1-0 and 4-0.
Caden Schwetz, Nick Zarichny, Aiden Harris, Troy Bowditch and Simon Kerr also connected for Kingston in the decision.
Logan Fennema accounted for the lone Express marker in the final frame.
Jeremy Wasson posted the win for the Voyageurs making 20 stops in the contest.
Adam Scott and Ross Jones both saw action in net for Espanola and faced a total of 50 shots in the loss.
