COCHRANE, Ont. – The Timmins Rock got two goals and an assist from Tyler Gilberds to help propel them to a 6-2 victory over the Cochrane Crunch Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Tim Horton Events Centre.
First period play saw the Rock get off to a strong start, picking up markers from Josh Dickson, with his 25th, and Phil Caron as his 16th made it 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Timmins kept coming in the middle stanza as they tacked on three more tallies to put the guests up by five.
Brendan Boyce, Gilberds and Gabinien Kioki were the marksmen in the session.
In the third, Gilberds click on the power play at 4:32 as the Rock went up by six.
Cochrane would dash Vance Meyer’s shutout bid near the midway point of the final session as Nicholas Grandy put the home side on the board.
The Crunch came right back and tacked on another at 10:23 with Dakota Seaman adding what proved to be the evening’s final goal to round out the scoring.
Meyer finished with 18 stops to get the win for Timmins.
Zach Wickson started for Cochrane and suffered the loss, allowing five on 34 chances while Tomi Gagnon handled 17 of 18 in relief.
