HEARST, Ont. – Samuel Bourdages picked up a pair of tallies to extend a point streak to four in helping the Hearst Lumberjacks handle the French River Rapids 6-3 Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Claude Larose Arena.
Bourdages was quick to strike Friday night as he beat French River starter Jean-Marc Brisson just 24 seconds into the contest.
Spencer Silver added to home side’s lead midway through the frame to put them up by a pair.
A Rapids power play allowed them to cut the deficit in half with Gregory Trudeau-Paquet earning a point in his seventh-straight game as he set-up Jordan Picard for his fourth at 17:16.
A four-goal outburst in a 10-minute span in the middle stanza allowed Hearst to take control as Max Johnson, Wade Auger, Bourdages and Colin Bourdreau all found the back of the net.
Another man advantage in the latter stages of the period allowed French River to get one back as Jacob Romano’s fifth of the season pulled the visitors to within four heading into the third.
Christian Gaudreau collected another man advantage effort for the Rapids in the third to round out the scoring.
Max Griffioen and Maxime Lacroix had two assists each in the win for the Lumberjacks.
Artem Bortovskiy made 15 saves for Hearst to record the victory while Brisson faced 51 shots in defeat for French River.
