SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Soo Eagles of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that forward Bradley Hofelich has committed to attend the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in the fall and play for the Falcons’ men’s hockey program, who compete out of the NCAA’s Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The 20-year-old native of Novi, Mich., is currently in his second season with the Eagles in the NOJHL.
Hofelich sits second on the squad in scoring with 52 points in 45 games with 21 goals and 31 assists to his credit.
His offensive numbers tie him for 16th overall in the 12-team league.
“The Soo Eagles are extremely happy and proud for Brad as he is an excellent hockey player, but more importantly an exceptional person with great character and dedication to his team and to the community,” stated team president, general manager and associate coach Bruno Bragagnolo.
“We think he will be a valuable asset and be able to contribute immediately for the Falcons next season. The Soo Eagles organization wishes Brad a great college hockey career.”
Hofelich is looking forward to the opportunity to further his playing career and his education.
“I am very excited to be a part of a great hockey program and continue my education at a top tier school,” offered Hofelich on his NCAA commitment.
“I want to thank my coaches, Jim Capy and Bruno Bragagnolo, for giving me the opportunity to play for the Soo Eagles organization and helping prepare me for next level.”
