Espanola’s Dubchak named CJHL’s 3rd star for November

SUDBURY – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced Tuesday that Espanola Rivermen forward Brennen Dubchak has been named its third star of the month for November.

The 20-year-old Kenora, Ont., product, who was earlier recognized as November’s Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League Gongshow Gear player of month, recorded points in each of the nine contests he took part in racking up four goals and 16 assists for 20 points.

Among his tallies was a game-winner in double overtime and he also chipped in by setting up three more game-winning markers last month.

Currently riding a 13-game point streak, Dubchak leads the NOJHL in offensive production with 50 points on 20 goals and 30 assists.

He also sits among the top three in the league in nearly every offensive category.

Garnering the nod as the CJHL’s first star for November was Shane Bennett of the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Milton Ice Hawks. He had 24 points in 10 games on 15 tallies and nine helpers.

Meanwhile Tad Kozun of the Nipawin Hawks in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League earned the CJHL’s second star honour to acknowledge the 15 markers and five assists in 13 outings.

Earning honourable mention for the CJHL three stars on the month were Matthias Gardiman of the Thunder Bay North Stars (SIJHL) and William Cochrane of the Sainte-Agathe Montagnards. (LHJAAAQ)
