SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forwards Nolan Ring (Timmins Rock) and Gavin Rocha (Blind River Beavers), as well as defenceman Coby Fox (Soo Eagles) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending March 12.
NOLAN RING, (F) TIMMINS ROCK – Registering an eight-point week, Ring’s efforts helped Timmins maintain their hold on first place in the overall NOJHL standings with a pair of wins.
Included in the 19-year-old South Porcupine, Ont., product’s contributions was a five-goal game against Cochrane this past Friday. This was the most in any league match-up since back on January, 29, 2020 when Tomas Yachmenev accomplished the same feat for the Powassan Voodoos.
Currently riding a six-game point streak, Ring has already set personal single-season bests in tallies, assists and points with 25, 20 and 45 respectively.
GAVIN ROCHA, (F) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS – The 17-year-old forward from Bradford, Ont., scored in both of Blind River’s match-ups last week, notching three in total, while helping set-up two others.
Rocha now has 13 multi-point performances in his first 51 NOJHL outings and sits third in league rookie scoring with 45 points, including 17 goals.
His five game-winning goals also tie him for the most among first-year skaters.
COBY FOX, (D) SOO EAGLES – The reliable Eagles blueliner also chipped in with multiple points over the weekend, helping his side collect a pair of home ice victories.
Featured in his offensive production was supplying his first NOJHL game-winning goal Saturday in a narrow 3-2 triumph over Powassan.
The 19-year-old from Littleton, Colo., enters the final week of the regular season on a three-game point streak and has career bests in markers, helpers and points with three, 20 and 23.
