Opening round playoff match-ups set in NOJHL
SUDBURY – With an overtime victory at home Friday evening the Espanola Rivermen secured the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League playoffs.
The result also decided the final set of first round opponents heading into the postseason.
Already determined was the No. 1 Soo Thunderbirds set to meet the No. 8 Blind River Beavers while the No. 2 Kirkland Lake Gold Miners will take on the No. 7 North Bay Trappers.
At No. 3, Espanola will square off against the No. 6 Sudbury Nickel Barons and rounding out the quarter-final match-ups will be the No. 4 Abitibi Eskimos going up against the No. 5 Elliot Lake Bobcats.
First round action will run from March 14-26 with each of the four series being best-of-seven affairs.
Game schedules for each series will be announced once they are finalized.
