GALLERY: Timmins earns 3-2 road win at Kirkland Lake

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – A C.J. Bradburn goal with just under eight minutes remaining in regulation was the decider as the Timmins Rock skated to a narrow 3-2 victory over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Thursday night in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

The Rock’s initial man advantage opportunity of the night allowed them to open the scoring midway through the first period as Wayne Mathieu collected his eighth goal of the season.

Kirkland Lake drew level later in the session though with Gregory Trudeau-Paquet notching the equalizer at 16:18 on assists by Declan Carter and Tyler Fyfe, with the latter running a consecutive game point streak to seven in the process.

A late power play then allowed the Gold Miners to go in front as recently acquired Connor Evans notched his first NOJHL tally with 66 seconds left in the session.

Timmins was quick to level the proceedings once more thanks to Josh Anderson’s first league marker, which came at 1:58 of the middle stanza.

It stayed 2-2 until well into the third where Bradburn’s picked up the game-winner as his seventh of the year proved to be the difference maker for the visitors at 12:02.

Rock goaltender Eric Jackson shut the door from there, making 24 saves in all to earn the win for Timmins.

Kirkland Lake netminder Cade McEwen faced 28 attempts in defeat.
