Wildcats sign first player

ELLIOT LAKE, Ont. — The Elliot Lake Wildcats of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League are proud to announce the signing of their first-ever player in forward Spencer MacLean.

The 1996-born Kleinburg, Ont., native spent the last four years playing for the Hill Academy in Maple, Ont.

The 6’4″, 220-pound forward will give the Wildcats a boost of size and offence as they head into their inaugural season.

In 2013-14, MacLean registered 11 goals and 10 assists for 21 points in 54 games played.

Wildcats head coach Nathan Hewitt says the addition of MacLean is great news for the Wildcats program.

“Spencer is a big kid with tremendous skill,” said Hewitt.

“He can hurt opponents in more ways than one.He hits hard and sees the ice well.If he’s able to translate those skills to the junior level, he’s going to be a very good player for us.”

The Wildcats will be announcing the signing of more players in the coming weeks leading into Main Camp.
