Voodoos 4th; Thunderbirds 16th in CJHL rankings

SUDBURY, Ont. – Even with a bit of a hiccup in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play last week both the Powassan Voodoos and Soo Thunderbirds are still highly touted in the Canadian Junior Hockey League and that was reflected in Top 20 rankings, which were announced Monday.

NOJHL-leading Powassan was tabbed fourth overall in the 132-team CJHL while Sault Ste. Marie was slotted 16th nationally.

The Voodoos, fresh off an impressive 26-game unbeaten streak that featured 25 wins and a tie, still pace the NOJHL in victories, points and winning percentage with 33, 68 and .850 respectively.

As for the Thunderbirds, they continue to lead the league’s West Division with 59 points having won 29 times and boasting the second-best win mark in the NOJHL at .720.

For the first time in many weeks, there is a new No. 1 club in the CJHL as the Georgetown Raiders (OJHL) takes that honour while the Brooks Bandits (AJHL) moved up to No. 1.

Former No. 1 Collège Français de Longueuil (LHJQ) moves to No. 3 this week.
