3 for MacLean as Wildcats paste Beavers

ELLIOT LAKE – Spencer MacLean scored three times while Adam Baxter doled out four assists as the Elliot Lake Wildcats defeated the Blind River Beavers 8-3 Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Friday at Centennial Arena.

The Wildcats exploded for five first period goals to take control early as they cruised to the win.

MacLean tallied twice in the opening stanza while Liam Blais, Phil Cloutier and Mick Tourangeau supplied singles.

Alex Hulford had the first of three goals for the Beavers in the first as well.

MacLean finished off his hat trick six and a half minutes into the middle session for the only marker of the second stanza.

Tourangeau shorthanded and Nathan Campbell on the power play made it 8-1 in the third before Hulford added a pair of man advantage markers for Blind River to round out the night’s scoring.

Allan Menary made 16 saves to record the win for the Wildcats.

Nick Kazmierczak started for the Beavers and made 41 saves while Zach Mills allowed two on five shots in nearly 10 minutes of relief.
